Jeopardy Supercomputer

Forget unbeatable chess computers, how about a computer that is able to play ( and win) gameshows!

Also hilarious line by one of the champions : )

This was taken from the tv/game show Jeopardy, as two of the best contenstants to ever grace the show play against IBM's Supercomputer, Watson. If you watch the footage, Watson does extremely well (almost TOO well) and it is crazy to think of the programming it took for it to understand this not-so-straight forward game.

Let me know what you think about it!

  2. Just wait until exabytes and brontobytes come out. 1 single brontobyte is like having 1000 entire Internets. Kinda scarry thing for all of Humanity.

  3. i'm sure there must be more useful things that computer could be doing rather than playing jeopardy haha.

  4. I watched a show about this on PBS and you're right, the work that went into it was impressive. I took a lot of troubleshooting to make Watson understand categories as it wasn't just simple data retrieval, so this could have greater applications beyond just playing Jeopardy.

  8. This computer was ridiculous! If the humans beat the computer I would be more frightened that Jennings was cyborg from the future sent to destroy Watson.

  21. One day, Watson will take your job flipping burgers from you.
Not just another one. The same one. He'll being doing every job. Ever. Watson will own 99% of all wealth.
    Then the purge will begin.
